My As If Tee Sweater

One of my favorite things (besides designing my own patterns) is supporting other makers and bringing their designs to life!

For one, I know how thrilled I am when someone is excited to make one of my patterns, and I want to pass along that same support! :) This post isn't sponsored in any way, I just love the pattern and the yarn! Here are all the details with my As If Tee!

You will definitely be seeing posts about patterns I love and the yarns I choose to go with them. Choosing yarn is such a fun thing for me, and I am always wanting to try new and fabulous fibers! There's something so magical about the perfect combo of pattern and yarn!

new skills

It's always a bonus when I can acquire a new skill with a pattern! For this pattern, I learned the proper intarsia method for knitting. Yay!! It's really easy and fun, and I can't wait to use this technique in the future! Next time, I may invest in some bobbins...

I had intended to knit this tee on straight needles, but soon realized I didn't have the right size on hand. Also, I didn't have long enough cables to knit in the round. (She does give you both options in the pattern. Awesome, right?!!)

Not wanting to wait any longer to get started, I used these tiny-cabled circular needles and knitted it flat. Hey, whatever gets the job done. ;) LOL!

That brings me to this gorgeousness...I mean y'all, can you even?! I have wanted to purchase some of Briony's amazing hand-dyed yarn for quite some time, and I knew as soon as I saw these colors I had to have them for my As If Tee! She has such a knack for putting together the most beautiful color combinations, and the neons, can we talk about the neons?!!!

The yarn I used:

This pattern called for aran or worsted weight yarn, so I was fully prepared to make adjustments with the gauge. After knitting a gauge swatch though, (something I don't do very often) I was so excited to find that the gauge was spot on! That being said, my tee ended up being a bit shorter than the measurements in the pattern...more on that later.

This project took me about 9 days, but I didn't work on it non-stop. It's definitely a quick and fun knit! I do have to say though, working with mohair for the first time can be a bit tricky. Keeping the tension even and making sure you don't drop a stitch does take a little concentration. I absolutely LOVE the texture of it though, and I will definitely be using it again!

Shay recommends in the pattern, when working with mohair, to use wooden needles. I think that is a great suggestion!

my finished tee

Well, here she is! My finished As If Tee! I absolutely love this color combo and this pattern, but my tee was a little shorter than I had hoped. (you can't necessarily tell in the pic) I think what happened was, I got so excited to finish that I didn't quite make the back long enough. That ended up throwing the fit off. I blocked her and wore her around a bit, but still wasn't totally happy with the fit. Can you guess what happened next?! Wait for it....Yep, I frogged this baby!

I know, you guys are thinking, "this girl is seriously crazy"! (Read this post if you aren't sure what I'm talking about) And you are so right, I totally am, ;) but I just love this yarn and tee so much, and I want to wear it all the time! That wasn't going to happen in it's current state. I wish I had loads of extra money to spend on all the beautiful yarn, but sadly I do not, so redo was my only option.

I had only intended on taking out the back, but it was just too hard to only take out one side, so the whole thing is getting a makeover! It's all frogged now and I have already started over, but I do have a suggestion - I definitely do not recommend frogging mohair. It's really a nightmare! I don't regret taking it apart, but next time I will be more careful to make sure the fit is exactly where I want it to be before binding off. ;)

to be continued...

Thanks so much for stopping by!
