first things first …yarn

Y'all!! I couldn't be more excited to share with you this gorgeous Knit Collage handspun art yarn! As you may already know, It is fall knit along time, and once again, this amazing fiber has blown me away! (Insert heart eye emoji here.) ;)

If you have been following along with me for a while, then you know Knit Collage is my absolute favorite yarn brand! I cannot wait to dive into all the yarny goodness with you.

I received my kit a few weeks ago...But, I am just now starting on my cardigan. Can I just tell you...It is so hard not to cast on right away, but I must. document. every. step. That way, you guys don't miss a single fun fiber moment. :)

the prettiest gauge swatch

One of the reasons I was most excited about the Plaid Party Cardi kit (besides it being such a cute design), was that It had some of the main yarns on my list to try. The Dreamland Yarn is definitely my favorite from all that I have tried. And, I had my eye specifically on the color Daisy Summer! (shown above, left)

This Daisy Chain Yarn was another top pick for me. It's similar to the Dreamland Yarn - in that it has beautiful embellishments as well - but, It is a bit thinner and has the cutest little daisies handspun into the wool. I am absolutely obsessed with this color - Sweet Papaya!

I am trying to get in the habit of checking gauge more often. It's really hard not to want to jump right into the project - especially when you're so excited ! ;) (Can anyone else relate?!) But, checking gauge is super important - specifically when making garments. Let's make a gauge swatch!

This particular pattern calls for casting on with the cable cast on. It creates such a pretty edge! I first learned the cable cast on with a West Knits Sweater. It was fun to use it again! This is the cast on method I use for my Unicorn Sparkle Beanie Pattern and My Cloud Catcher Beanie Pattern.

I used the Spun Cloud Yarn for the first time in the Spring knit along (KAL). (You can find my spring knit along projects blog post [here].) This yarn is so dreamy and cloud-like. And, we can all agree, the Lavender Dust shade is to die for! It has just a hint of color and the thick and thin texture of this Knit Collage handspun art yarn works up beautifully.

I love how you get to practice the super cool and unique plaid pattern on your gauge swatch! Now, I'm even more excited to get started on this adorable sweater!...If that was even was possible. ;)
